The Wesley and Mary Green Family Crest

The Green Family Crest was designed as a visual representation of the family values that were instilled in us from as far back as we can remember. Although the emblem is new, the sentiments are far from new to us. They have a major influence in the Green family heritage.

Cross (dividing the shield) - The Cross is the background of the crest and symbolizes our belief that Jesus is Lord. The Cross was left bare to remind us that we serve a risen Savior.

Crown (top of the shield) - The Crown serves to remind us of our royal and rich heritage.

Umoja/Interwoven knot (upper left quadrant) - An African symbol used to depict our commitment to strive for and maintain untiy in the family, community, nation and race.

Bible- The Word of God as our standard. Psalm 119:90 reads, “Your faithfulness lasts from generation to generation…” This verse was selected to keep us mindful of the faithfulness of God in the past, in the present, and in the future.

Mortarboard/Graduation Cap - Symbolizes our belief that pursuit of academic excellence as a means to strengthen our family and our community. The mortarboard was selected to symbolize graduation, which is the completion of the education process.

Pickaxe and Shovel - Symbolizes a strong work ethic, perseverance and farming background.

Laurel wreath (surronding the shield) - Traditionally represents victory, accomplishment, scholarship, prestige, and honor.
